About Melony

mel3 Hi!  my life is filled full with love from my man Jeremy along with Hannah, Zeke, Daniel and our fluffy Saint Bernard.  i’ve been surprised by Joy in the noise of the city and quiet of the mountains and spend my days continually chasing after it amidst the stuff of life.  This is where i write about what i discover along the way.   i was always better at creative writing in school because there is freedom from all the rules, and i like freedom from rules.  so you will find my writing reflects that, mostly on purpose.  thank you for grace

A little note about this space

IMG_2051IMG_2058IMG_2046

If you were to knock on my front door, i would open it with

“Hello!  come on in.  can i get you a cup of tea?”

and the floors would be in terrible shape.  the paint is wearing off the 100 year old wood and don’t take off your shoes because we’ve been having trouble with splinters lately.  we’d sit down at my tiny kitchen table and i’d move books and dishes out of your way.  we’d sit there amidst the messes and undone-ness of this house and i’d pray that i would be given the grace to forget and God would grant my request and we’d have a nice chat.  and when you leave and i remember the real state of things, i would say a prayer of thanks that He grants courage and joy and a friend who will come over anyways.

my online home here is not much different.  it is not as sophisticated as the other ‘houses’ on the block, instead it’s rather simple and a bit unfinished.  the substance of the words is where i spend my time and i pray you find depth here, encouragement and hope.

welcome! glad you stopped by!

Melony, I found you! So, your site does not look familiar to me – I’m not sure why it sounded so familiar as I thought maybe I had been here before. I am so glad to have met you today at the barn. I look forward to reading your blog and getting to know you better. I love your description of inviting us to visit – I could so relate to moving the books and dishes off the table. In my case, I might also have to clear a path for you as well, since we live in a smallish home with way too much collected stuff from here and there crammed in! It is also an older home and very crooked in spots – I call it my crooked little house! I suppose, in a way, that would be a good description for my blog as well – my crooked little house on the internet. 🙂

Teresa, I am glad to have met you at the Barn as well. I think we would feel at home at each other’s table don’t you think!

Hello, Melony. I followed a link from my blog back here to your place – it’s a blessing to see a fellow writer who was ministered to by my words. Your writing is lovely. I am sure we’ve met somewhere, and I know I’ve been here at your blog before. Forgive me! My memory is terrible. I’ve added you to my Feedly and look forward to reading your thoughts.

My memory is terrible too, I think maybe you were at Emily Freeman’s writer’s barn a few years back? I don’t remember if we actually met, but I think that’s how I discovered your blog. At any rate, glad to have you ‘stop by’!

        That’s it!

Hi Melony! I tried sending you an email about a possible book to review, but my email got kicked back. I was going to ask you about reviewing a book coming out in March about prayers that changed the world. If you’d be interested in that, send me an email and I will send all the info. 🙂 Thanks!

Sorry about the trouble with my e-mail. I sent you an e-mail, let me know if you didn’t receive it. Thanks!
